FAVORITA LANGHE DOC, 2006
Azienda Agricola Valdinera

Located in the heart of Piedmont near the city of Alba, the Valdinera estate has been farmed by the Careglio family for four generations.  At present, it consists of about 41 acres of which 22 are vineyards. Currently, “Beppe” Careglio grows Barbera, Favorita, Nebbiolo and Arneis.

Long the "favorite" white of Italy's northwest Piedmont region, Favorita is said to have originated in Spain. Centuries ago, traders brought it to the nearby coastal areas of Liguria, Tuscany and Sardinia which all call it Vermentino today.

Uncertified Organic Wine (Producer states they do not use artificial fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides. While we cannot prove the veracity of this, we also have no reason to believe it is not true.)

Tasting notes: Crisp and refreshing, this virtually sings of peaches, honeysuckle and -- most of all-- grapefruit.
