The winery Terre de' Trinci (land of the Trinci) takes its name from an old venerable family. Members of the Trinci family have been part of the ruling elite in Foligno since the 12th century. This family also gave their name to one of the most spectacular and famous palaces in Umbria, the Trinci Palace. Of the many treasures in the Trinci Palace one of the most spectacular is the Sala dei Giganti, "Hall of the emperors" where portraits of famous leaders heroes and emperors from ancient Rome are displayed. One of these portraits is of a Roman consul, Cajo Mario, which is seen on the label, and gives his name to this wine. Tasting Notes: Deep, dark black-cherry fruit, soft tannins in the background, with hints of tobacco, a little dark chocolate. |
