"SENTITO," CROATINA, PROVINCIA DI PAVIA, IGT, 2002
TENUTA MAGGIORE

Little-known Croatina is an indigenous grape of Lombardy’s Oltrepo Pavese, literally “other side of the Po River from Pavia”. Bordered by Piedmont, Liguria and Emilia-Romagna, the area makes some wonderful wines that often don’t get the attention they deserve. This one is easy to enjoy, dry and supple, with generous aromas and flavors of slightly earthy dark red-berry fruit.

The picture on the label is Bacchus, the mythical Roman God of wine. Here he shows the social and beneficial influences of having great wine.

"Sentito" means "heartfelt".

"It's a pretty garnet color, dark but clear, and breathes an attractive dried-cherry aroma that reminds me more than a little of a good Valpolicella. It's juicy and ripe on the palate, crisp and tart, with subtle leathery and "barnyard" notes appearing as a restrained, pleasant note of complexity. A pleasant touch of bitterness adds flavor interest in the finish." Robin Garr's 30 Second Wine Advisor Sept 2006
