"FROI," BARBARESCO, DOCG, 2005
Az. Ag. Rivetti Massimo

Rivetti Massimo in Nieve

From Nieve in Piedmont, long known for its excellent wine comes this Barbaresco. The Rivetti Massimo winery owns about 50 acres of planted vineyards in three locations. Garassino in Mango, La Palazzina in Alba, and the largest as well as the first one planted, Froi in Nieve, on the hill of the lower Langa.  Some of the vines in this vineyard are half-a-century old, producing intensely flavored grapes, apparent in this beautiful wine.  In short, a stunning Piedmont classic experience that doesn't come along every day.

Tasting Notes: One whiff of this Barbaresco and you are full of anticipation. In the nose it is warm and envelops you in an aura of ripe dried berries. In the mouth, it delivers its promise. Full bodied, choked full of ripe fruit, dark dried cherries and ripe tannins.

NOTABLE AWARD
89 - "Flowers and blackberry aromas follow through to a medium-to-full body, with fine tannins and a refined finish. Sleek and racy. A little short, but should open up nicely with some bottle age. Best after 2010" Wine Spectator September 30, 2008
